Dead Camera Battery? No Problem!

So I went to visit a friend today to take pictures of her 3-month-old daughter and she told me that her camera battery died during her baptism. Huge bummer! We ended up putting her back in her gown (which was handmade by her grandmother)and snapping some pictures of her in it.

Sometimes these things happen but the moments can be salvaged!

Big Changes on the Horizon!!

In the spring of 2010, On the Bay Photography will officially become a division of Aunt Spray, Creative Visual Company. Aunt Spray is a company that my husband started that offers a wide variety of creative visuals. Photography is a perfect addition! Between now and the spring, we will be working on a huge website update that will allow Auntspray Photography to fully launch.

For those of you wondering about the name Aunt Spray, here is an explanation:

Our company name is derived from the book La Cart: The Secret Lives of Grocery Shoppers (by Hillary Carlip, Barbara Green), where it is mentioned that a person actually wrote and misspelled this (common pesticide) item on their grocery list. The premise of the book is that the author scours empty shopping carts etc. for remnants of modern anthropological scribe (hehehe). It was a perfect name for our punk rock DIY approach to design.

For now, I'll still be booking a limited amount of portfolio building sessions. I will continue to operate as On the Bay until we launch in the spring. Please visit http://www.auntspray.com/ for information about the company and the services it offers. I can still be contacted at jlroberts09@yahoo.com to book sessions and answer questions. As always, thanks for your interest! I'm having a lot of fun!

Baby J

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to have the chance to take some photos for a great friend and her 3-month-old baby. The weather was perfect! Lots of sun and 72. Unheard of for this time of year in NW Ohio. We went to the park and took advantage of the great colors that fall offers. Isn't he the cutest thing ever?

My Baby is One!

Miss Mallory turned one on October 22. This year flew by like a tornado! Fortunately, the weather was beautiful and I was able to grab some great fall photos at the park just in time for her big day. Enjoy!

Blast From the Past!

Today I had the pleasure of working with an old friend and her family. In fact, her little brother was my 4th grade crush. We rode the same bus, live in the same area and had all the same teachers. I love meeting up with friends from my childhood as there is a mutual understanding about where we come from and no need to explain our foundations. It's priceless.
They live on an amazing property and we were able to grab some shots with fall colors and the water. Her two little girls are pretty much the cutest little things ever, as you can see from their photos.
I loved working with this family! Enjoy your preview...there are many, many more shots coming your way in the next couple of weeks :)

Fall Is the Best Time for Photos!

I love fall. I love cooler air and warm sunshine, colorful trees, Halloween and everything else fall (except for college football...see my second blog entry). I love that my youngest daughter's birthday is in the fall so that I can get great outdoor shots every year! I will be taking her photos in the next two weeks but I did manage to get both girls out together for a few pictures already. We have a little common area in our neighborhood that we have named "The Triangle". The girls love to walk there and run around together and I love to watch them. On our last venture to The Triangle, the camera came along and some great shots were captured. Enjoy!

Rain Delays

Although I love fall in the Midwest, it does make it hard to plan anything outdoors. I was super excited about a session I had planned with a little boy, his mom, and his grandma yesterday but hurricane force winds, torrential downpours and subzero temperatures prevented us from making photo history. Alright, alright...so it was a little gusty, a little rainy and 60 degrees, but still not good enough for kick *ss photos. Hopefully we can reschedule soon!

So, in lieu of showing off those images, I'm going to post some pictures of Lydia. These were all taken on her third birthday in our yard. Those of you that know her know that it is impossible to get her to look at the camera. It takes bribery, butterflies and flat out lies to get her stay in one spot long enough to focus the lens. These are nothing short of a miracle.

Enjoy!
